Our 3 Week Drive Through Mexico

For our honeymoon, we headed across to the Baja peninsula in Mexico, just south of California. We flew in to San Diego and paid cash to rent an old Honda Fit to make the trip. One week to drive to the bottom, one week there, and one week to drive back. That was our plan. Route 1 is a two-lane road that takes you all the way. We quickly discovered the importance of sticking to the speed limit - 50 mph - and figured out how to bribe our way out of a speeding ticket the second day in. It was a lovely trip that took us through many small towns in-between long stretches of beaches and deserts. Our destination was Los Cerritos, a sleepy beach town an hour before Cabo, where we rented a rustic hut on the beach for the week and attempted to learn to surf, with little success. We camped, boated with grey whales, ate many good tacos, and some bad, and dusted off our Spanish skills. Here are some pictures from our trip.
